Well, blue lamp, I live in the area, but it seems like they've just kind of closed off the area. No renovations are actually taking place yet as far as I can tell.

It's really amazing you managed to ever get in this place. I walk by it seemingly everyday and I was never able to pick out any viable entrance. It's good that I can look through this gallery to finally pique my childhood curiosity as to what's actually inside Hotel Sterling.
That's funny I just recently introduced my thirteen year old son to that song. How Ironic were looking on here and there it is.

While the world of design changes, and things become more simple and modern (square seems to be the trend), I will always appreciate classical architecture and elements. Buildings like this should be treasured and not abandoned.

The color is a bit much, but the details are incredible. The door looks very institutional not unlike an asylum. Its just missing the small square window with safety glass.

Love the "Empire" revival railings. This was probably a very beautiful room, with lots of antique "Williamsburg" furnishings and wing back chairs. I hope they were able to restore this part.

"....I'm on a wavelink far from home....I understand just a little....no comprende...its a riddle....."

Found that song recently in a box with a bunch of cassette tapes, and a old GE stereo walkman that still turns on! The summer of 1984 will never die.......:)

Nice set of photos Motts. So the hotel is still standing right?? I hope they do re-do the hotel and get it up and running again. Not cheap but its a shame when we waste all these buildings instead of reusing them. Thanks again Motts :)

I hope they do re-open it and its not torn down...they re-opened the Book-Cadellic (spelling) here in Michigan. I haven't been to it but from reading in the papers here its suppose to be beautiful. Its great when they re-open places. I do hope they can do that to this place as well....otherwise what a waste really....

I think it is kinda cheesy really....the round room is interesting enough.....but the colors well don't do much for me. Maybe back in 'the day' it looked much better than this....at least I sure hope so that is......Nice shot Motts.....

I'd be afraid someone would come out of one of those doors any minute and like scare me to death......what did you say about Waverly Hills, the queen. I thought some lady owned it? So it was sold?? Interesting thats for sure........More info if you have it please.....
