I grew up with this image fresh in my nightmares. Being to young to even Know it was a psychiatric institution I always felt an ominous presence driving by in the family sedan. Although i agree It's visually haunting, unlike it's occupants it seems to escape everyones conscience what this place was .

It's a really sad place. I went there yesterday. My sister went as a child as our step mum worked there. They were very cruel to some of the patients. So sad...
How many them "Accidently" drowned?
I'm sure this place will pass inspection... =]

I have an old fireplace like this one in my bedroom now, all the houses in the area have them, i remember the coal man coming round in his truck when i was a child and selling coal to the few who hadn't converted to gas fires. my grandmother would store the coal in a small brick shed in the garden called the 'coal hole' this style of fireplace was a victorian thing i think, they were all like it, but modern fireplaces in the uk are wider

I am very interested in history, and also hate to see beautiful buildings fall into disrepair. But let's say a government has one million dollars to spend on mental health. Should it be spent to renovate an abandoned psychiatric hospital, or on treatment for today's patients? It's the basic economic dilemma of limited resources and unlimited needs.
I guess they finally finished the Tower of Babel.
I love the angle here! Haha, you can tell I really like pictures that are predominantly one color.
