Many asylums there had some creepy names to me at least - Hellingly, Severalls, Cane Hill, Netherne... kinda cool sounding now that they are abandoned though!

It was very sterile... most of the hospitals in England seem to emit this feeling in my opinion, I suppose I will hear other views in the future galleries and see if you guys agree.

Perhaps it was the renovations, or lack of equipment and objects that drive the feeling of people having lived here that cause this...

My local hospital has chairs exactly like this in every cubicle, and pretty much every home for OAPs (at least that I've visited, and that's been a few) has dozens of them in the common rooms. I used to sit in one when I was in hospital last year and it made me feel like my grandmother!

They're actually quite comfy...

I would LOVE this picture, with the caption, "Yet again, Derek's farts have ruined another chair". Derek is my husband and his farts could possibly do this to a chair, lol.

Beautiful. The combination of the color and the medallions puts me in mind of Louis IV period decor, or a similar period.
Definitely looks french, love the soft blue.

It's so beautiful even in the process of decay, imagine what it looke like when it was still being cared for.
When I first glanced at this shot I had to do a double take..to me the tub looks like it is floating. There seems to be a lack of shadows under the tub somewhat. Does anyone else see that? LOL
This is THE strangest chair I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of chairs in my days. Could you imagine if it wasn't a wingback , and that section stuck out like that all the way across the top? LOL You'd be sitting with your head almost between your knees! Delightfully creepy!
I like the colors and angle of this shot. Everything is very artistic! :)
What a pretty shade of blue!
