for BD- the wierd thing in the bathroom was a bedpan cleaner. You put in the full badpan, closed it and when you pulled the handle it flushed and rinsed the pan. Only real old nurses and orderlies would remember those.
Actually the third part would be it's closing in 1990, The county used it for some storage and communications for a while and completely abandoned the building around 1995. It was sold to the town for cheap in 2000 and has been the subject of a lot of political bs since. Many area student nurses trained here during their pulmonary term.
Your site contains interesting photos. I offer this correction: The facility was never called "Hanson Tuberculosis Hospital". It opened in June of 1919 as the "Plymouth County Hospital" for treating tuberculosis. The Town of Hanson was its location, but was strictly run by the county. In the 80's it became a hospital for chronic and geriatric illnesses. Your opening history paragraph suggests a three part history, but only two occurred.
Yes, there is alot of vandilism. From this picture you cannot tell, but there is ALOT. People have no respect for this place, and alot of stuff from the outside has been thrown out the top story windows, which are all broken.
the building ahs not been demolished, although a fire occured in part of the building in early April2006. This part is still intact, although people pay no respects and have spray painted swatstikas all over the place, and broken almost all the windows. I live near here, and is still very creepy, as the morgue is still there, but it is watched carefully by police.
I've worked in many an institution and haven't found a haunted one yet (and I'm a night owl - I like second and third shift hours where all the excitement ought to occur). But there are folks who have gone to a larger number of these than I have - the urban explorer group that posts here. They may have seen something I haven't seen yet and they have gone to many places I haven't.
Of course, as I've said before, it is possible indeed that I frighten off apparitions. :-)
In all seriousness, though, I tend to focus heavily on the people who are right in front of me. If it is the case that energy forces are out there from deceased people, I probably would be too busy focusing on the living to have time left to see the dead. They may be there and they may have their issues, but the folks I work with have some pretty serious issues in the here and now, so perhaps any deceased forces would know better than to try to distract me.
hi there I was there today my goodness you are right it is very creepy but i did not think that much of it till i saw the pictures posted here and other comments on the visit. if you are looking for the place it is part of the 4-h and us department of agriculture. the Umass extentsion service and the US department of agriculture are located in the front building of the property. that building itself is a little creepy but boy it will make me think twice now about going to meeting there at night. does anyone know how large the complex really is? there is the front built there are 4 or 5 garages and another out buliding. thanks for the picture
