I think this building originally had a recessed facade, creating a shallow courtyard of sorts - then a permanent "porch" was added in, filling this gap. The original windows were left in place, so they now look into this new day room / dormitory area. This addition cut out a lot of daylight, as can be seen by the darkness of the bedroom.

I believe it's an air shaft, used for forced air circulation. The plaster has crumbled off from the moisture seeping in, revealing the brick behind it.

I go alone once in a blue moon; usually there's a trusted friend or two with me.

I see an eye pressed to the glass, trying to see who, if anyone is coming. Is anyone coming or is it just another voice in my head, a sound only my brain hears...

Were those observation windows painted over? They look like solid oak doors...amazing!

Is that a chimney in the other room. Was their like a fireplace or a woodstove? Were the walls left as natural brick or did the plaster fall off?

Was that a door to a seclusion room? Are those doors going beyond that? Do they keep going or are they like windows in the rooms? Very cool!

That's gonna be my room...I called dibs on that room...that one's mine!!!! I can hear a winter wind making the tree branches dance, I can see the full moon throwing shadows across the covers, I can feel the coldness creeping in around the loose window panes while the radiator knocks and rattles to it's own beat.

Usually your stair shots make me want to go up or down them because I want to see what else is there...this one not so much...too scared to look around the corner!
