Thank you for these pictures Mott. I just found out that my Grandfather was a patient here through the 1950's until he died (before I was born). It was all very hush hush and I am finally discovering the sad history that took place. I know very little as to why he was committed. I truly appreciate your pictures, they give me some sense as to what the place was like. You have a great gift for finding the beauty within the rubble.

This may predate the usage of "Doe" - and the person buried there may have been an indigent found long after the fact or even a Native American skeleton accidentally unearthed when someone was digging a well or root cellar, (and not knowing one way or another, the community re-buried the finding on consecrated ground out of respect just in case - anecdotal evidence indicates there are Neanderthal/Cro-Magnon remains in old European cemeteries when burial caves were mistaken for robbers dens and the bones of their victims - to be a good Christian was to see too it that the found remains were properly disposed of because nobody deserves to be scattered around in the wilderness.) It could also be the remains of a Revolutionary War soldier or murder victim hastily buried in a temporary unmarked grave, again found decades later and given a decent burial because to the community, to do otherwise would be unthinkable.

Kind of creepy looking....It looks so big. Sends shivers up my spine to think of patients sitting there watching whatever they watched there.

I see a "No" at the top....
Also I kind of want to cry looking at this photo. There's something sad that makes me want to cry for the former patient who drew it.

Its called a crash gate. Its to stop the flow of traffic if someone starts running or there is a fight. that way you can contain things. this was probably a prison hospital wing. Inmates get sick too.

This looks a lot like the things that I see psych patients write on the wall at the prison I work in.

This is very odd to me. I would like to know how long these have been here and why they were just left? Also infant sized what was the need for them? I cannot wait to get up there and explore for myself.

Geez, I had that same exact train when I was little. The blue smokestack would squeak or something when you press down on it.
