After living at the hospital for ten years, I learned that hydrothrophy was the use of a patient being put into a bath tub, covered with a canvas except for their head, and ice added to the tub until they went into shock. This was the best treatment of the day to stop a person from acting out and hurting themselves or others. The tub was in front of that partition. And no there was no privacy at all while a patient there, night or day.

WOW, Byberry must have really made an impression on you. I helped clear the buildings while it was being demolished. That's where I got my interest in abandoned State facilities.

It's long seemed to be a New England "thing" to find graveyards in strange places. My mother found parts of one in her backyard in New Hampshire. Perhaps something to do with the inpenetratable ground; for six to eight months out of a year, the ground up there is frozen solid and makes burial -and construction- difficult.
