Yup, old heating pipes ran along the walls, and the mattresses were stuffed with horsehair.

They probably are dentist chairs, not sure why hair cutting came first to my mind...
And there are photos of it in use lol. Found em by clicking the main photo. Duh.
Man, what a shot! Feels like you're right there in the hallway. I can smell the damp air, hear the echo of emptiness............
That is what made me think dental chairs Katy. The thing in the front.
There is a pull coming from each light tho... you can even see the ones on the far side.
The green parts on the upper walls almost look like moss growing.
Awesome wide-angle lens shot!

.....a ray of hope in a dark world....
This one's my favourite shot of the set. I like everything about it .
Would make a wonderful wallpaper, if possible.
I really like the rounded corners that these old buildings have.
It's an pneumatic valve operator; The big, round part at the top (where the tubing is connected) has a diaphragm inside. Compressed air pressure from a controller pushes on either side of the diaphragm, which moves the stem (silver thing at the bottom of the pic) up & down, opening and closing a valve in the piping below it. Probably regulates steam, I'd say.
I love these industrial galleries, Motts!!
Beautiful!
Would love to have wallpaper of this one.
Looks like it may be part of the old boiler......
Thanks for the new gallery, Mr. Motts!
