WOW! The photo is amazing. At first site: Know Thyself and it leads into a dark closed off room. The room had a door at one time. Spooky! The wording is used in spritual readings and is an old saying. To "Know Thyself" is to have insight to ones mind therefore you can change it or change yourself to become a better person. To overcome thier illiness. The picture is just amazing. Makes me wonder.
You're right Jade...in fact there are many images of what could be hell on this site. And that is not referring to Motts photography, I mean the images he captures! LOL.
I love how the basement seems to glow, and you can see greenish walls and the extremely dirty tile. I feel really drawn to see whats down there for some reason.
Like 4 years ago, before I got my braces put on, I had 4 teeth pulled at once...fun. So I'm getting my braces put on, writhing in pain, and they say "oh, that's right, you recently had teeth pulled didn't you?" "No, I just normally have FOUR BIG GAPING HOLES in my mouth!"
Sorry, painful experience lol. And having stitches in your gum is no fun either. But at least the chairs are comfortable. If I knew a place was going to be bulldozed within a month, I'd be tempted to off with one of them.
It's sad ... I wonder how the rest of their lives turned out, not just Chris' and Tyrone's, but all the children that were there. But, what I think is most disturbing of all, is the lack of love, it's like their childhood was just tossed aside, no one cared enough to keep these little mementos.
In 1989 my oldest daughter was born with cerebral palsy, deafness and a corpus collusum (part of the brain) which never formed. When she was one week old a doctor approached me about institutionalizing her. I was told she may never even recognize me anyway. Well, I didn't and she does recognize me. In fact she seems to never forget anybody. She is outgoing and loves life. When I see these pictures it makes me so glad I kept her with me. I know places have improved but there is nothing like a mother who loves you and wants to take care of you.
I'd never be able to work at a hospital or, heck, even a vet's offiice. To give care from the heart would require getting close on a personal level, and to one day hear that one has died would really be tough.
Thanks for the story, yaggy.
