Just watched Sessions. Since I spent time in an Iron Lung in the fifties, with Polio, I realize how lucky I have been. Being a kid in an Iron Lung is not fun!

Motts, this a great & very funny shot. The question is, did you feel energized afterwards?

My Uncle used an Iron Lung for over 40 years, he just past in May 2012. My cousin's has his iron lung and is looking for someone that is still using one. So if anyone is looking for a back up iron lung please let me know.

Maybe these doors were there to make the coffee shop seem more fancy or more inviting to visitors of the hospital. Whatever they were meant to do, they do look nice.
This shot reminds me of the hospital from V for Vendetta, Lark Hill

Good lesson to learn, Lynne. I have made a habit of deep brehiatng regularly over the years. When one of the kids/g-kids or hubby get hurt/stressed I immediately instruct deep, slow breaths in the nose and slowly back out the mouth before anything else (unless it's an emergency of course. then it's examine them and breath deep myself to remain calm. lol). I do it subconsciously as I write, read or whatever. Thanks for the links.

Hey cool - yeah I hadn't noticed the pulley system inside. That might explain why the central shaft in the historic photo appears to be at a different height.

Thank you for putting this mystery to a rest, this room has baffled me for quite some time ever since I stepped into that room.

Also, it might be noted that the direct center of the circle has an entire pulley system set up - most likely the UV light could be raised and lowered for different intensities.
