my Father and Mike Schneider owned Sunnycroft Ranch, I was in love with his daughter Annette Schneider.
Sunnycroft was great. My Cousin, "London lee" played the Borscht Belt Circuit alot .
Sunnycroft was far superior to the Rocking Horse, we had the best rooms, best horses, best trails, hottest women from NYC we picked up every Friday at the Public LIbrary in the City and drove them up and back.
The Neville, Browns, Grossingers, The Concord, What great times.....
I used to visit my Grandmother at Guild Manor for many years- she went there from the time my mom was a child in the 40s until I was a teenager in the 80s.
By: Ilaynay That chandelier looks awfully familiar... I can't remember where I've seen it, but I know I've seen that design before...
I always love the photos of plants coming up through the carpet. So interesting to see nature taking over.
The chandelier is "Koglen" by Danish Poul Henningsen. VERY expensive.
One of the main reasons the Catskills resorts faded was that they spent the '80s and '90s not upgrading under the assumption that eventually New York State would legalize casino gambling. Once there was gambling, they would sell to big casino companies, or upgrade in place, or raze and upgrade.
I would like to share memories of the mid 50's Pines with people who attended the hotel's great Passover seders and high holiday services. The cantors were Oysher, then Shicoff, then Dubrow. The great choir was always Abe Nadel's. My father, Daniel Sloan, conducted the services with them.
Look me up in Massapequa, NY
I went swimming in a old motel pool a couple of days ago. There was no graffiti in this pool, and thankfully it was in better condition than the pool depicted here. It was more like the pictures of the purple room if you can imagine that.
I thought of this website instantly. It was dirty and fun at the same time. Not what I would have chosen and still... it wasn't so bad. There were no lights turned on in that area of the motel. That added to the ghostly feel of the experience.
Ooooooooooooooooh!
Anyway,
It was fun.
I loved these kinds of bathrooms. I am going to redo a tiled bathroom in a 30's house one of these years. This reminds me of my Gramma's when they lived in a big old house in a small town in Washington. There was an "infrared" heater in it though, and it provided a contrast to all that green. I felt safe and happy there.
