You'd be surprised how onerous such tiling on the wall can become after a while if you have to inhabit such a place. In a bathroom its nice, when its on the walls to help keep things "sanitary" well the needs should inform the view. You'd don't know how soft and warm your drywall or stucco walls are until you've had to live with cold shiny walls. I wonder if that has any effect on the kids whose walls are hard and painted shiny to make it easier to clean them?
