I usually only wear a mask in tunnels with dry, friable asbestos; it can get cumbersome and difficult to breathe wen climbing up and down flights of stairs. I've felt a bit run-down from really moldy places with no ventilation, but haven't gotten ill from it (yet).

Thanks all!

bobo: I'll try to get a new set out by this Sunday.

FreeSpirit: sure, I'll make the next one from the deep south!

Beautiful gallery as always & thanks for sharing. I've spent hours learning about the places you've shown us and the institution process overall. I can't believe the excuses people used for locking up their relatives & children. And how easy it was to do. On the other hand, to create large facilities that were architecturally stunning and self supporting including electricity and food... pretty impressive.

I'll bet there are many others who have learned much about history via inspiration from your art. Thanks for what you do.

Could be an outlet/return plenum for a duct delivering heat or AC

I would love to have this!
As always, great gallery! Your pics makes me feel like I am right there at these locations. Motts, are you ever going to do some southern locations?
As I usually say, I sure would have hated to go flying through that door in the dark, not knowing there was no floor there!
I love that color green!
Poor radiator. Tried its best to escape and just gave out and collapsed, lol
Love old fireplaces! I bet this was nice to sit by when the place was up and running.
I know, right? Makes me want to reach for a mask just looking at this shot. Motts, were you wearing a mask walking through this place?
