This looks like something out of a really old movie I saw I can't remember what it was though

The security on the place is tight, to say the least. And given the amount of money being put into this place ($76 million, last I checked), I suspect the owners will not take it kindly if they catch you trespassing.

I think they were installed by one of the preservation groups. Partly to showcase the building, partly to better guard against vandalism.

Actually, those windows on the first floor (the ones that increase in size) are where a bathroom is located. (Its a very pretty bathroom, too - the windows are trimmed with oak, and the entire room is pannelled with oak, too).

I've been inside of there (legally) and, unfortunately, there is really no way they would be able to open it for tours any time soon, except for maybe the administration building. There are enough holes in the floors and bits of ceiling waiting to come down in even the safest sections that it would just be a lawsuit waiting to happen.

The administration area of the Kirkbride is lit up at night with large floodlights, I'm not sure who installed them.

Great Pic! This Facility Seems More like a Experimental Toture Chamber per say than a Mental Health Treatment Facility. With its Aggitating Colors and Cramped Rooms I cant imagine what the basement rooms where for.
