Probably a flooded nuclear fallout shelter or crawl/scuttle from a lower level. Every building in DC area started getting them in 40's. Most of these are around the grounds. Come to think of it, they probably go from inside to outside of buildings for various reasons.

I am of the 80's Glendale crew. You have AWESOME pics. I don't need the photos so much as I am wondering if this is still there as of 2006. I may try to sneak an entire video session for the band. I went around there a few times only at night. Not been in years. I've dreampt of the stage room and other parts of the place since then. It's not really a powerplant, this one doesn't actually generate electricity. It's more of a steam and hot water plant.

Though, william-joe, larger establishments often do generate their own power in an effort to achieve greater isolation.

DO ppl realize that when you are visiting old buildings like this, your mind plays tricks on you. You will hear footsteps and see strange lights, etc. because you WANT to. You want to believe there are "spirits" and "ghosts". There may be some truth to them, but nine times out of ten, it is your imagination. It's happened to me countless times. Some I believe, most I don't.
