*snerk* Legitimate names for legitimate medical equipment, but that's rather odd placement!

More comment education, thanks OR nurse. Would never have guessed a bedsheet warmer in 100 years.

Memories... as I view these photos of Glen Dale Hospital, I'm reminded of my early childhood. My Grand Mother( Virginia Minnis), and Mother(Beverly Clark), both worked at the hospital ( for years). Seeing the buildings and grounds, I can't help but think...A PLACE DESIGNED TO PRESERVE LIFE, NOW, LIES STILL IN DEATH.

Regarding the grouping of Tap Bells with Mouth Gags: one of my lasting memories from a series of circa-1990 invasions is from one of the nurses's closets not far from what looked like an x-ray room. The shelves were labeled with those same Dyno labels, and the shelf for "Jaw Locks" was just above the one for "Bedpans". As often as a bedpan may have been needed, it was disturbing to see that they kept the "Jaw Locks" just as near to hand. Sadly, the shelf was empty (though there were a few bedpans nearby on that floor).

As upsetting as it may be to think about having a Mouth Gag used on you, I have to think that a Jaw Lock would have been worse. Frankly, even a routine dental procedure involving either would probably freak me out enough for nightmares.

Come on in, the waters fine.

I'd drag a bed in the basement over that, so other explorers wouldn't have to worry about nearly stepping in that.
The old water tower should be taken down
as well the climbing vine and BG& E pole

I did a painting of this photo a few years ago :) it's my favorite out of the gallery. Went to Glenn Dale back in like 07 and it was absolutely breathtaking... my camera battery died not even ten minutes into our adventure which was odd because I had made a point to charge it up fully before going. I live in Carroll County and frequently would go to Henryton but never felt anything vaguely supernatural, then I came here. The basement in particular just had a thick, sad, eerie almost desperate feeling to it. My friend and I both got really cold, had an awful stomach ache and just felt really down without any explanation as to why after we explored the basement. Overall the trip was fantastic though. There were 5 of us and we didn't have any issues with security but that's not saying other people might. One of the best parts of the night was being out on one of the balconies and looking up at the sky and seeing a HUGE ring around the moon, and we were so high up looking over the grounds it was just beautiful. Anyways I'll shut up now I'm just a geek about this kinda shit :)

Thanks for the history and pictures everyone. I lived in palmer park in the late 70's thru the early 80's and never knew of this location. I saw this physical location for tthe first time this weekend and was curious about the history of structures.

This is an impressive shot of this place, I really like this view. It really shows the size of this place & the colors are nice too, the brickwork, the roof tiles & the plant life all around the building.

I just found out about this place and want to go and see it for myself
what the best way to go in .isnt there a park and ride up the road and is it a good idea to park at night
I like this final shot in this section. It really reminds me of a classic final scene in like a sequel to the legendary classic Day of The Triffids, which probably be called Night of The Triffids. Its reminiscent of the long battle with the Triffids having been over, and the final survivor runs down this hallway late at night seeing that it is the only place where the Triffids didn't leave their vines attached when they finally died, and the final survivor had no choice but to crash through... But did the survivor survive? Plummet to his death? The final scene of the movie is just this shot with the music being apprehensive, wondering...
Ok. Nice shot. Would be just about the perfect place to urinate and not get any urine scent anywhere. Of course to do that one would have to...um...and that may not be the best of ideas if that basement is pitch dark and you would have the sound of splashing water be your guide and if something swam in there...and happened to be hungry for sausages...
Just when you thought one pic was awesome... BLAMMO!!! SUPER KABLOOIE!!! This one shows up. I mean, sure, it may look as if it might not be authentic (and should never be doubted at all), but holy Ding Dongs of Apocalyptic Doom n' Gloom on The 34th High Plane of Ultra Doom, this one reminds me of Horror High for some reason (super classic clunker horror movie!) and the lighting and everything are exquisite and completely spot on! You rock Motts, you rock!!!
