There is an actual face peering out of the large crack in the upper left hand corner of the room. Distinct, staring, creepy. I am a local artist and my friend was showing me this site when she saw the face. I enlarged it. It is real. Stop going to Pennhurst. Push for this place to be demolished or turned into a memorial. This should not be an attraction. People were tortured and murdered here. Justice was not served. Many victims of this place still live amongst us in phoenixville, spring city, etc. This sick fascination with the suffering of others is wrong. Read a book

I grew up one street away from this place. I don't watch tv or movies. I do not play video games. The landmark court case that closed Pennhurst is public record. It is a class action suit known as Halderman vs. Pennhurst State School and Hospital. It was found that patients were in fact abused. Cut and paste the following web address.

There is also a document if anyone is interested called Lost In A Desert World by Roland Johnson, a long-term patient at Pennhurst. Please don't discount patient testimony or dismiss truths just because they happen to be ugly. Care enough to look.

Hi I saw this place again on CBS news yesterday, and I heard they're turning it into a haunted house attraction for 2010's Halloween season, opening on September 23rd. Did anyone else see that news report????

i worked all over pennhurst from 1971 to 1986 i saw what the gov. saw in 1969.

i hope the people who are burning down these buildings are caught...

Does anyone know where the tunnel door that says "Murder Me" is? My friends and I stumbled upon that door when we went there and we're going on a second trip for photography but I totally forgot where the door is.

I was also thinking that it could be a therapy room. But... 1. Why would it be labeled "Men". And 2. It seems like therapy stairs would be portable.
