colin, it was also featured on the Travel Channel show, Ghost Adventures & some odd things happened while the crew was there filming.

After seeing what happened to some of the patients & what went on at this place, I'm glad it got shuttered. Such bad treatment to these kids, who just needed some extra care & a little more love.
Jessi H: Dr. Fear died in 2001 at the ripe-old-age of 90. He resigned from Pennhurst in 1968 for -- get this -- injecting a mild tranquilizer into a difficult patient. So when he confessed to what he had done on NBC, the public was so outraged that Pennhurst suspended him and an investigation was pending. He moved to Florida after that. I don't know if he continued to practice medicine afterwards or not.

When was that documentary made? 1961? He wasn't investigated until 1968. At least the public was outraged when they saw that confession, so we know not everyone in t he world condoned those actions, they just did not know they were going on.
My father worked for Picker in the 40"s and 50's. I remember working on this Model in the 70"s, it was old then and talk about being heavy, Its transformer was about 700 lbs compared to todays HF transformers that weight about 50 lbs. Calibration took all day todays equipment takes 5 minutes.

The VA Medical Center is in the tallest, more modern building on campus, "Horizon Hall", or "New Horizons". It now has another addition being added to it. There is an armory at the old "female group" up on the hill. The VA also uses the old garage/firehouse as a maintenance office/workshop.
