The news story about Pennhurst showed children strapped (more like shackled) to cribs like these with flies all over them. In one image, a fly strip hung above the crib. It looked like a scene from a third world country.

I think the only beautiful thing about Pennhurst is the architecture of the building. Certainly nothing that went on inside it's lovely walls would be described as beautiful.

It is a very heartbreaking story.

I have the suction machine from Pennhurst. It's missing one of the bottles and the pressure guage glass is broken. It weighs about 25 lbs. It's soon to be a lamp in my trophy room. It's the beginning of a stairwell up to the roof hatch and catwalk entry. Of course, the shadowy-figure theory is much more intruiging.

ok, I see 2 strange things in this picture. First, at the end of the hall near the double doors - on the right, there seems to be a shadow figure, and, if you look at the right door window it looks like a face is looking through it --- or is it just my eyes playing tricks???
