I have unfond memories of the principal's office.

Better memories of being sent to sit in the hall which was not the punishment they thought it should be, I actually liked sitting in the Hall.
Oh and if you cleaned it up a bit.
If you added radiators under the windows that would look like my second to the last grade school.
The zombies are hiding down there Tony.
My grade schools had coat closets that ran along the back of the rooms. They always seemed to have very little lighting. I went to six different grade schools in all but one of them more like that.

The small mosaics above the large one are all classic quilt patterns. Very cool job done on this building.

Yup; the lower brickwork is Flemish Bond and the top, darker bricks are Flemish Garden Wall Bond, with more stretchers between the headers.

After reading up on various patterns a few years back, brick walls suddenly seemed a bit more interesting to me!

School's out for summer! No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks!

I looked up the term bond pattern in brick work (since my husband is a mason) and learned there are different bond patterns. The pattern on the facade of this school is called flemish bond. http://www.bricksandbr...ages/walls/bonds.gif

The city of Cleveland tore down my old high school which was beautiful, and are now replacing it with something ugly and without character. This is the way it goes in this country. Ugly architecture rules the day.

It seems that chair/desk were left behind just for you, Motts. ;-) The chairs were separate from the desks where I attended elementary school.

I recall having to put the gum I was chewing (no no in class back then) on my nose and hold it up to one of those blackboards. Ah...the good old days. We went from blackboard, to greenboards, to white boards for magic markers. Soon, there will be no boards at all.
