276 Comments for Horace Mann School (KC)

Those are rather odd shaped windows for a projection booth. What were they running... 16mm? Super 8?
Poor pianos always get left behind because they're so darn heavy!
First comment but I don't know what to say! Still hoping for the projection booth.
They don't look too comfortable that's for sure. I'm hoping there was a projection booth that you got into. . . the suspense is killing me!
My Favorite place of all time!
What a waste, I hate to see things just left behind.
Yeah! A new gallery just in time for lunch, thanks. I've loved storms ever since I was a kid, I used to go out on the porch and watch them.

The fire that destroyed most of the building happened in 2011, so that would be two years after these photos were taken. It pretty much gutted the place.

I'm not sure of the species of rodent there; the fluffy tail end and long hind legs make me think of the desert/hopping kind. Perhaps a giant kangaroo rat. No idea what's in the bottom jar!

I cannot recall if there were more shelves, but I remember the inventory seemed a bit sparse for a school, so perhaps the bulk of reading material was removed when it closed.

Alright, anyone else get the "Crunchem Hall" feel from R. Dahl's "Matilda" here? Just me?

I used to own one of these. It lacked a tower and all that goes in one now was condensed inside the keyboard. It used large floppy disks for programs. They are rare, but there are still some out there...
