Fabulous shot. Thanks for another great gallery. I'm surprised no one has salvaged all the steel and iron.
Looks like quite an old ferry.
I read your comment, Mr. Motts, about how the workers on the barge had to level, with shovels, the load that just came down, so that the barge did not list or tip. What backbreaking work.

This end is opposite the crankshaft. A well lubricated shaft that the steam piston is on moves in and out of the cylinder inside this housing.
Oh boy, a new gallery. Thanks Mr. Motts for the videos and the historical photos. They really add a lot.
I really like this shot, too! What with the natural light being the way it is, and the steel rails probably being rusted, the rails almost look like they're made of copper in this photo. Of course, they're not! : ) Copper is wa-a-a -y too soft a metal to hold up under hardlly any weight!
Quite an Engineering feat indeed!
Oh, Wow! How interesting! I think this gallery is going to be pretty good, Motts, tho you'd disagree! : )
I posted my comment at the previous photo (which is also great) but it should be here:
I agree, this is truly an awesome shot!
