Agreed; 'noisemaker' traps are generally only to alert you that the cops/security is nosing about. If you even think you're being followed with malicious intent the best course of action is generally to de-ass the area with quickness, to quote the Mythbusters.

Another urbexer remarked to me that he always carries a small plastic jar full of cheap olive oil and clear marbles - in case of suspected pursuit by non-cops, dump in a likely spot to buy time and don't wait around to see if it works.
