I love the metric system. It is SO much easier than what we use in the states. I wish we'd gone metric decades ago.....guess I'll be in one of these crypts before that happens. :-(

Well, someone cared enough to visit and place flowers or the crucifix. The generations pass and people forget as go about their own lives. Makes me wonder where my great, greats are buried.

These tombstone photos are being used on current grave sites in Houston, Texas. Give one a more intimate visit with the reposed.

I agree Hank......it IS sad.......but, maybe a loved one pulled it up to have a final 'chat' with the deceased........or to find solace in sitting with them one more time.

I used this as my wallpaper , then installed a backup lost it and now I have found you again......yeay....

So maybe this is more of a dumb question..but in situations like abandoned cemeteries ..are family members notified before the place is abandoned...i mean clearly people just cant show up at these places to pay their respects...i know dumb question but just curious..for some of the places that have not been abandoned for too long

Thanks to a conversation with TomB. recently, and your report here, as well as a visit to the Forbidden Places pages, was able to visit this site the other day, with great pleasure. It is still possible to enter the underground section, if one does so quietly and unobtrusively. The cemetery above ground here is well worth a long stroll around, in the far back there is even a large copy of Rodin's Thinker, and many other beautiful sculptures. But the below ground galleries are truly out of this world, in many years of exploring cemeteries, have never seen anything quite like this place.
