Yes I do feel like once was risky enough, but who knows what opportunity might arise in the future; thanks!

Do you think you'd ever have the opportunity to go back, or was once risky enough? The photos are fantastic, what a solemn piece of history.

PLENTY OF PERSON BURIED THERE
Absolutely no respect .... even in death these most vulnerable citizens of ours can't be put to rest..... very sad.

As the other posters above me has so eloquently stated the open ground, the treads and the earlier picture of the caskets were just enough to evoke a feeling of such sadness, your subtlety has to be commended and makes such a larger statement. I could just imagine how yourself and your dear departed friend must have felt walking on this island of lost souls.

Good morning from the Bronx. Those images are amazing. I never heard of Hart Island until now. Thank you! Also, I read about your friend Nick. My condolences to you. I'm very sorry about what had happened.
Wonder if Luis Santiago's family will ever see this?

A very thought-provoking place. Your 'camera eye' has caught more than images.
Sorry to hear of your loss.
