You truly give a good reference to those who are writing and creating artwork in the Steam Punk persuasion, like me for instance!
Thanks lot!

It makes you wish that all things were built the same way today.

That makes me wonder if the large metal piece is still intact today.

I can just imagine the horse drawn carrage pulling up t o the front. Sepia color on a lower filter would antique the image well.

This is my favorite one of the bunch. Awesome!!! If I didn't already know what this place was, I would be thoroughly mystified.

Well, close... :-)

The governer doesn't create drag on the engine to regulate speed... That would be one wussy steam engine! It's connected to the throttle. As it goes faster, the balls swing out, which turns the throttle down. As it slows down, the balls fall back down, which turns the throttle up. An ingenius simple feedback system, works marvelously. (Nowadays they'd use a microchip and sensors to do it, and it would be broken all the time...)
I'm not much into heavy machinery, but I gotta say, these are some gorgeous machines!!!

Yes, it's the original beam; I believe all the major equipment related to the engine operation has not been replaced except for the boilers in the early 1900's.
