That sort of looks like a vent leading to the next floor so that heat coming from the lower rooms could rise to the upper ones. idk.. just a guess. We used to have vents like that in our old house for that reason because there was no furnace upstairs. Except ours didnt latch like that... This is One of my favorite shots!

I like the way the stairs kinda spiral. When I get my own house I'm making sure that there's at least one spiral staircase in it somewhere.

It looks nice if you enjoy greenery and privacy. The trees are a little too close to the porch for my liking if I had to stay there, but I'd like to live somewhere that has a forest-y feel to it.

The room on it's own would be creepy enough, but the angle of the picture makes it even creepier!
