Whatever happened to this proposal?

I sure as s--- would've bought that place for $100 in 1993 - and I was only 8!

Bob, you may want to rethink that. These photos were taken in 2004. There are web sites with more recent pics and the building has deteriorated greatly. Opacity does not give out information on how to enter these facilities for legal reasons. That being said, if you still choose to explore this campus, be careful & God's speed.

Hello I am going here and would like to know how to get in, where to park, where to get in without getting arrested. I am a photographer and my intentions are purely for preservation. I can be reached at gothamwebdeisng@gmail.com . Thanks so much :) !

It's an eyesore and a health hazard. It should have been torn down years ago. I know for a fact that if you go in there, you are risking your safety and the Millbrook cops would be more than happy to arrest you
i feel the same way wanderer....the only website i know of that keeps
up on the situation is right here, at mott's opacity!

I couldn't contain myself again longer. I view this website pretty much on a daily basis and haven't been able to gather the courage to make comments, but after viewing this gallery I absolutely have to. This gallery is beautifully captivating and I've thoroughly enjoyed reading all the comments. The pictures capture the history and decay of the place perfectly and I echo the comments of others about the area allowing it the place to rot away.

Here in South Wales in the UK, we have many historic and beautiful places falling into disrepair and it's a crying shame that councils and local authorities plug all their efforts and tax payers money into horrendously ugly (and unnecessary) new buildings rather than maintaining and restoring the fascinating, abandoned buldings that are already here.

End of rant :-)

Mr. Motts, were you nervous about being in this room?? It's a magnificent, jaw dropping shot. But the laws of physics are being teased.

It reminds me of a house of cards. The next breeze could bring it down.

This place looks pretty unstable. I wonder if it's still standing. This is one of your best galleries Mr. Motts.

Thank you Ms. Lamza for sharing with us a moment in time at this magnificent campus. November 22, 1963 is one of those moments in history where millions of people can simultaneously recall where they were. I remember that day very well. I can imagine all you girls gathered around the TV watching history unfold in black & white. It's something we more "seasoned" Americans can share.

That's perfect LucieLou. Teen aged girls in the Victorian era were probably as rebellious as any. There must have been thousands of stories that went on behind those windows and on those porches. I can imagine sitting out here on a warm June evening listening to the spring frogs & crickets in the darkness. I can see fireflies in the grass & trees. I can see the brown bats flying overhead chasing mosquitoes. And in the mist of it all, the voices & laughter of young women, alive with nervous energy. It must have been magnificent.

Millbrook Village attorneys and the pricipals of the proposed development have publicly agreed that Halcyon Hall WIILL be demolished by October of 2011, at the latest.

In light of at least three current lawsuits objecting to the approval
of this development, it has been estimated that the appeals of those suits may freeze the project for several years.

This, alas, is no reprieve for Halcyon. It's impending demolition
is ostensibly to be carried out by the developer, an indication of their confidence that they will prevail in court, or just pay a monetary fine
or concession for the procedural irregularities leading to the
approval of this project. Just added into The cost of doing business, as it were....

So that's about as official as it gets....

demolition permits have not yet been obtained.
But Halcyon Hall is coming down this time, I believe.
