Thanks you two.

Wanderer, the edifice took analyzing several photos and then free handing it with blocks rather than drawing on paper. The most difficult part was the Roof, once I got the roof completed properly ( and it involved man rebuilds ) the rest of the building started to come into shape. Dormer placement was also difficult.

You may not recognize the structure to the right. But that is supposedly the original Dining Hall that was demolished. The windows are probably wrong, but I liked it so stuck with it.

I recreated it based on the floor plans and a few very distant images. This is how the roof is apparently, it is really interesting. A hipped and gabled roof structure combined.

wanderer I've gained an even greater appreciation for the architecture of this building while creating a MineCraft version. Granted MineCraft is by no means realistic, it is more like legos if anything. But I'd like to think I've gotten a very accurate block style Halcyon Hall built.

Anyone with basement floor plans? Or at least pictures/video?

The above is the "back" of my version, all floors and rooms exist in this. It is to scale in terms of real life to minecraft conversion ( with a few differences and my own ideas added onto it .. like a moat )

Celeste- U simply MUST put the finished product out for us to see-and I thought I was crazy for that place

Pat that is good and bad to hear I suppose. Part of me wanted it to stand till it rotted to the ground rather than see it demolished. But I guess safety first is more important and the falling to the ground might destroy that wall, although for me... that wall is nothing without the rest of the building.

In other news, I near completion of my MineCraft replica of Halcyon Hall of 1897. I just wish I knew what the basements looked like in terms of floor plans.

also- see Stax --told U Motts would answer ya
hey stax, wanderer and all [and esp. Motts!] great reading everyone's
posts

the only real new news [nu nu's?] is Supreme Court Judge Maria Rosa [who is new to the bench I believe? I am not certain] signed
an injunction on Jan.16th ordering Bennett Acquisitions LLC [the
property's owner] to obtain permits from the DEC,Dept of Labor, and
State Office of Parks Recreation & Historic Preservation, pursuant
to the court's order to demolish Halcyon Hall. BA LLC must also
submit operational plans in regards to power lines during demo.
The adjacent chapel , and unnamed stone wall are to be
'preserved', which is some good news. I would like to think the
wall in question is Halcyons stone foundations in front. Much of
it's western facade is also faced in fine stonework.

If this all seems like deja -voodoo all over again, it is because it is
really just a State order that will be ignored as opposed to the Village
order that has been ignored all along. But the State has the power to find the owner in contempt and impose penalties, powers unavailable to the Village, or at least unimposed so far, beyond nominal fines
for Building Code non-compliance, and the cost of mowing the lawn,
and putting up silly fences and whatnot.

The Village Board of Trustees went into closed session to determine what they can continue to do. Or continue not to do, as it were.

I'd guess most people prefer the State to be involved. It makes them the ''bad guy'', and insures some movement towards some resolution
of a fairly vexing problem for Millbrook.

More significantly, the inclusion of a preservation mandate in the
state injunction for some portion of the building[s] is the first actual
legal decree to specify so. So that is heartening that some aspect
of selective demo-ing has been considered and specified for.

Coming from the State that seems to have a bit more teeth than
any order from the village at this point, whom are completely powerless , it seems. Kicking up to NYS is at least a bit more
proactive at least, than floating the prospect of these 'mystery buyers'
they have conjured anytime people demand some progress by
the village in taking responsibility for disposition of the property.

BA LLC has until the Ides of March to comply. about ten days or so from now.

So...look for Nothing to happen anytime Soon, in other words!!!!

in the mean time...Halcyon Hall turns 120 years old this year.

ok!

So obviously it hasnt happened yet or you dont know mate? And yes like every Urban Explorers dream is to be there in person to get there own images of any structure that wont be there for much longer.Hey mate I found this really cool public hospital over here that has been shut for over 30 years. It has really cool iron gates and is on quite a few acres of land over looking the sea.Alot of out buildings eg boiler house, nurses quarters, the main hospital and heaps of others.Went up yesterday to start takeing shots and yip my camera decided to have a mind of its own and misbehave. How annoying is that?Did more research when i got back home and found out that it was built before 1900,so as you can imagine i dont want to let this one be demolished before i have taken a few shots.More than a few would be beta.
The word around town is that it is Haunted.MM seeing is believing, but in saying that why did i have such bad things happen while i was there.
And would i have banged into the security guards at te same time.
Buggered if I know.I am alone in this case as others that say they are keen dont want to get caught at the sametime. There were some people living in the buildings illegally up until recently when they all got kicked out as the buildings were a earthquake risk.
So there are alot of buildings that are going to be no longer due to mother nature.
