If the city does decide to take this building down I hope at least they try to salvage of all the beautiful architectural details it has. I just think its crazy that no one could find a new use for such an amazing building of this quality.

Absolutely beautiful..this type of stonework is never seen anymore. As a Historic Preservationist it makes me physically upset that these buildings are left to fall apart...

what a shame we let our public places get like this. the economy in michigan has gone to the potty now, too, so I don't see any way out for this beautiful old building in the future =(

I would not walk on those steps.

they didnt scavange the marble because there arent places that buy it on every corner. It is much easier to scrap the wire and sell that to the scrap yards, The kick in the teeth is they dont get that much for it.

Joe, I think these walls would be crying for everything that they had lost.

The tile work like that is a lost art. Wish I could be half as talented as they were or as you are Mr Motts. Thanks for all you do.

I love this shot. The vastness of the space makes you feel really small.

This used to be such a beautiful building. I remember driving by it on the way to my aunts house. It is such a shame what has become of it in its later years. We as a people in the country are all about having new things and getting rid of the old. If we were in Europe this building would be considered young. But here we consider it to old to be of any real use when the fact is it would be of great use if the maintance was kept up on.
