Hey TootUncommon: I do realize that its not just Detroit. I only say that cause I live close to Detroit.(suburbs).........but not in Detroit. Of course most Cities have the same issues....it just seems that here we get lots of negative publicity in regards to the shell that the City of Detroit has become....not that its not deserved.....so I guess I'd say a shame to all Cities that just let things go.....but it seems that it will continue to happen.....but it is sad nontheless.....its just a shame really.....to not reuse old buildings for something else....its a crime really.......IMO anyway.....

Living in Detroit, I'm afraid to go in there. Mainly afraid of the homeless that are protective of their grounds., as most are such as the ones living in the old cathedrals. Been there, done that. How did you get in?

Beautiful building, I did not know that there was plans to demolish it early this year but was cancelled because it's on the Historic Registry.
If you are going to keep it around it need to be cleaned but they don't want to which makes no sense. Detroit has enough delabitated buildings and this as time goes by will just get worse, implode it.

I try to pass by this place every time I head through Detroit. Your photography really did bring out the interesting and beautiful aspects of such a tired building.
Awesome perspective. Nice shot!
Man you're quite brave to go to that section of the building. Awesome shot!

This is chilling to me as a former Michigan resident, places like this are all over the state, abandoned Big 3 plants in almost every city...My parents are from Flint and Detroit areas and its so sad seeing these huge places as a kid, and now their gone, huge parking lots that held 3-4 shifts worth of workers, 24-7 building cars, now empty...the bars and restaraunts that serviced the workers, barely holding on...I am brand new to this page, but it has engulfed me!!! I would Love to see more from Michigan and the auto industry, and the price the midwest has paid for poor leadership, over powering unions, and people buying foreign made auto's....beautiful photos!!!

That's what my back door is going to look like in about a month, if my Labrador has her way. She could eat through just about anything... and it appears that a relative of hers has been at this door.

I love the top arch on the door. Don't see that often!

I love the contrast... lines, rectangles, squares, and one round tire in the center foreground. Beautiful!
