Well I spend ~50 hours a week in them, so I pick up alot of stuff along the way.. Most people have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. They just know that they flip a switch and a light goes on. The amount of work that has to be done on a daily basis to keep these plants up and running is astounding. From the routine maintenance, to operations, to the major overhauls. I am just a mechanic though. My knowledge is limited to the plants I've actually worked in. "Red Dragon" and "Bob" seem to be on the operations or engineering side of thiings. I can tell you about the major systems in the plant, and what their purpose is... They know more of the details though. And on types of plants that don't exist where I am, like Coal powered.

I know the Ravenswood plant in Queens sends out steam to heat the surrounding area. I don't know how it could possibly be used for cooling though.

RD, how do you know so much about these plants? You sound like a plant engineer.

Shhh We don't talk about that place.

Another interesting fact (I think.) All the turbines on Long Island point north and south. I'm not sure what purpose that serves, and if it's the same at other plants. But if you get lost inside, you can figure out which direction you are going.

What is this "Other" plant you speak of? I'm interested as well.

Oh jeez, why don't you cry about it. Button masks and other paper respirators are generally referred to as "tittie masks" in the industry, because they resemble the cup of a bra. If it really offended you, remove yourself from the intArweb.

PS -- you just said it twice.

PPS -- My point was that I hope he's being safe. Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, throat and lung cancer are no laughing matter.

ECT is still used today when conventional theraoies and medices don't I heve never had it but it was presented as a last resort. My understanding is that you are sedated. Depending on how much you've had, you can expierience long term memory lost among other things. My Great Aunt had it over60 plus years for postpartum depression. She is in her nineties unfortunatly no longer with the program. I dont believe this is because of her age because her siblings were all fine in their old age.

lynne, you are correct, as usual.

~actual quote by motts~
"Thank you for the critical comments, I always take them into consideration and look forward to reading any well founded opinion."

but there is a difference between polite/constructive criticism and using criticism as a means to insult and taunt (with what borders on senseless babble, i might add) people and ideas one might be unwilling to, of incapable of, understanding. those with such a low empathy rating, imo, are mildly amusing, at best, but then again, perhaps these pictures hit kevin a little too close to home and this is the only way he knows how to lash out. you never know....
