Of course i love the chandeliers also
How lovely indeed, yes what a space
- and with all those fair Lamps lit, wonderfully soft light evenly spread around must have been Precious Glow.
Really like that Lamp. A good look.
And the doors have three hinges.

I am currently reading "They Called It Home For The Incurables" and it's a great book..very comprehensive if you want to learn about the entire history of Newington. Luckily we have inter-library loan..this book was not available anywhere in Iowa..I was able to borrow it from a library in Connecticut. Great read!
Foliage creeper ivy like a green waterfall outside window....and:
ONE LAMP - milky opaque so pretty is still there.

Great image, the inspiration for who knows how many games and set designs. Truly awesome.
Jay Leno is a big fan of steam powered machinery, cars, etc. and I believe he has a machine similar to one of these. I saw a video of him starting one of these up, pretty cool. I guess when you have money to burn like him, you can collect this stuff to restore and play with.
Thanks for the link above to the story of the man that climbed one of these. That was s pretty harrowing story! I can almost guess which stack it was looking at the missing bricks at the top of the one.

Wow. Like everyone else who has commented, I am deeply moved by this picture. I'm saddened to think of them and wonder at their fates. But even more than that, I'm outraged and disturbed that these documents and files were just abandoned along with the facility - it's such a shocking breach of privacy laws, and it's completely unforgivable. As profound as this photo is, and although the patients' names have been blurred out, I don't think it's appropriate that this picture is published here. Even though it's likely that these gentlefolk are no longer alive, it's still a breach of their confidentiality to publish photos of them here.
