i noticed i didn't hear "school's out" at end of school this year.... kind of missed it, even though i've been out for eons.

They used to be a lot louder. At one time, back in 2001ish, the entire building used to have free flowing power. Everything could be lit up. Now, I hear its only random rooms that will light. I remember this building when it was almost untouched. Its so trashed now. Still intersting regardless I supose.

That reminds me of how the morgue in 7 Kpsh used to look back in like, 2002ish. The med/surg building here closely looks like it. Good shot.

Intersting that those buildings are the same as the 20 or so pheniox houses in pilgrim. Just 2 floors higher. Its intersting to see how the state's reused the same plans over and over. Nice picture.

As per site policy, most real location names and any methods of entering the property are not revealed.

It looks a lot like an emergency O2 shut-off valve. But it is very close to the ground. Ususally those are eye level to make breaking the glass or removing the plastic easier. I've also seen "Code Blue" buttons down like that - but those fell out of favor because equipment kept activating them.

History is not about right or wrong, good or evil, it is the past and is just that :History. I feel History needs to be preserved and learned from.
The Norwich State Hospital was founded on good intentions. People corrupt good intentions, it is the way life is. Sadly.
Utopia apparently won the contract and rights to the land, they will start "cleaning" the site for use soon.

These may help with some questions one might have. I also have written down some storys from the staff, nurses and patience of the Hospital , i will have to dig them up. I used to work with them in Norwich, serving them lunch.

Looking at these photos makes me think of the sharp contrast between the institutions of yester year and "treatment center" of today....My great aunt had Alzheimers back in the mid 60's and no one knew what it was, she was relativley young, for that disease, 50's i beleive, late 40's, she was committed to Marlboro Phsyciatric Hospital in Marlboro NJ. Its very infamous in my area, my Grandma tells me stories of how her sister in law was in a highchair fpr adults, and in a padded room in a strait jacket! We talk about these things from time to time, as my own mother suffers from mental illness(manic depressive, ocd...etc...) She DOES get hospitalized from time to time, but where she goes is really nice, its hopital ish, but nice. They have the tv room, crafts, snack bars and its very nice and the staff is so cool and friendly, you would ever even know that half the people there are either addicts or paranoid schizophrenics...
