Yeah, but if someone asks you where you received your schooling, and you went to a public school, how would you say that?

Elementary and secondary (middle and high) schools can be either public or private, seems like the same basic system. Public school is "free," private school costs money.

Elementary school and high school are just levels of education.

You know, thinking about this, I might struggle to say that five times fast.

State School, or Public School are what we call the government run schools here, as opposed to a private school where you pay.

I will have to remember if anyone from the US asks me where I went to school that I don't say "oh I went to a State School".

So, what do you call your schools then? Like Elementary and High School, you don't call them Public or States schools I take it...
