Finally, someone mentioned Dirty Dancing. I was waiting to post until the end to see if anyone else thought of that movie. That's all I have been able to think of while looking at these pictures.

"Nobody puts Baby in a corner", is my favorite line from the movie!

I was never lucky enough to go to a resort like this when I was growing up, but I sure am enjoying the pictures of this and all the stories from guests/workers.

the chemical barrels you may have seen in here are calcium setyl-nitrate, and "heavy water" (water has 2 different isotopes; heavy water is found 1:200 ratios in most standard water supplies. the calcium setyl-nitrate was used as a cleaner for the boilers and the heavy water was used for filtering soot out of the smoke before it was released into the atmosphere.

the mayflower building wasn't used for isolation. it was used for specialized containment for patients who were a danger to themselves or others, and were often badly abused and berated.

i've never seen any bus... but then again, when i do go there, it's usually for researching the architecture and paperwork that's been left behind (note: i have never taken a document out of any building on the premises)

this is interesting... maybe the other side of the shelves were damp due to some other jack ass breaking a window and letting the rain in. this is a historical building where many aphalling (i hope that's spelled correctly) and cruel things happened. i hope that in the future, people have more respect for such a landmark as this.

i've been doing some extensive research on pennhurst, and if this is where i think it is, it's on the 2nd story of the school building. that room should be on the north west side. if any of you have any questions regarding this...oddity, e-mail me at supraboy2491@yahoo.com
