I live ten miles from "Denbigh Mental" as we call it. My friend was taken there after a complete mental breakdown in 1968. I went to visit her and walked down this corridor to the ward. There were people standing against the walls talking to themselves and completely unaware of passing people. when I reached the ward there were beds set in rows against the walls and down the middle. As I passed some beds there was a figure lying in one of them, all covered up, one of the patients laughed and pulled the covers back, it was a wax dummy with its mouth open. At that moment I nearly fainted. It was a fabulous building but the inside was frightening. The care the patients received was excellent but Maggie Thatcher closed all these hospitals and put over 1000 people out of work in Denbigh. Denbigh is an ancient market town close to the moors. fabulous photos!

I believe this is an observation room of some sort. Imagine equipment around the room and a patient in the middle under that main area. Of couse , I could be wrong to.

If you look directly at the top center of the photo you can see a profile of a woman who is wearing her hair in a bun. This is Ethel the Broom Lady as she was known. She would wander the halls with a straw broom talking to it like it was her child.

This is a very creep place in deed. I live maybe a 4 minuet drive from here... Tis a shame I never gathered enough courage to enter before they started ripping it down

JUST TO TELL YOU GUYS WHO ARE WORRIED ABOUT GETTING TB FROM THEDE PLACES, YOU CANT' AS LONG AS THE PLACE HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS, YOU WILL NOT GET TB, AND I LIVE IN GLENN DALE AND THIS PLACE HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN FOR OVER 10 YEARS THERE IS NO WAY THAT ANY DISEASE CAN LIVE FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS UNLESS IT ACTUALLY HAS A WARM PLACE LIKE A HUMAN BODY TO STAY IN BUT YOU WOULD NOT GET TB FROM VISITING ,NOW YOU CAN GET OTHER THIKNGS FROM MOLD AND THE DUST, BUT NOTHING THAT SERIOUS

Even though I must admit that this is bloody creepy ... it also makes me sad. What child had to leave behind their doll? I love the blue light and the way it's more clear around the doll
