Creepy. Makes me want to grab a pencil and sketch it in black & white. But as if the place closed yesterday.

For some reason or other this picture scares the crap out of me. I don't know what it is, but it really makes me look over my shoulder. Strange. Your picture of open doors in Whittingham Hospital doesn't scare me. Maybe it's the knowledge that people who act like they savage dogs-- and can't help it--- and the doors are open-- makes me feel as if someone will jump out at me any second.

john, i think most of these places have closed because of lack of funding and in some cases , reported patient abuse , also there was a brillant idea to let patients be dinstationalized i didnt spell that correctly but im sure you know what i mean.

It looks like a door standing alone on a beach. You can see the ocean behind it and the clouds in the sky. Reminds me of the doors in the Gunslinger series by Stephen King.

Kristiara, I was thinking almost the same thing! The paint peels look like nasty leeches or something crawling up the walls <shudder>

Puts me in mind of the movie "Jacob's Ladder".

Word on the street is that the saving of Worcester State Hospital isnt looking as good as it was before.

They say that it would be cost prohibitive to restore the Admin building, the cost being tacked onto the cost of the new hospital. It isnt thought that we'll be able to get the money for it.

I say we, not as anyone who has anything to do with funding, but as a Worcester resident, someone who cares deeply for this hospital and its history. My mother used to work there before the fire, working with children. Alot of people's parents used to work there I guess, but there's something about the place that speaks to me, and I have been going up for looks since I was 13. You should see it at Night!

There were a few other buildings around here that are on the edge of loss.

I am hoping that it works out. I gotta go up there with my camera and collect some memories just in case tho.
