This appears to be a fire sprinkler riser. In other words, this would be where the water would come in from the main water line to feed the fire sprinklers for the building. I may be wrong but that is my guess. Interesting to note that the line at the bottom of the riser appears to be cut or disconnected and that there are other parts missing. I am not sure who would remove these and why. They would not be easy to damage or remove with random vandalism. The only thing I can figure is they may have been brass or some other metal that could be of value. Interesting shot, I like it...

I think the hole in the floor might have been used as a drain for when they would mop the floors down the water would go to the llow point there

I agree that the steps probably lead to a door at one point. It may have been to lead patients in and out without incedent. The "medicine cabinet" may have been a place to put a towel or maybe soap. The water probably drained into a drain in the middle of the shower and came from a pide overhead. As for the pink walls....It may have been a different color at one time and I do believe that pink is supossed to be a cheery color. It may also have been cheap. Pastel clors are supossed to elavate the mood I think.

my girlfriend has been there a few times but i'm always too tied up with work so i can't go. but my friends and i are planning on going in one night and checking it out. we've gone into a few houses around our town on Cape, but we feel like it's time to go big and explore this place. also i just bought a new digital camera and want to break it in by taking pics and video of the whole thing. if anyone wants to hook me up with directions and a good plan to get in without getting caught look me up on myspace. my username is the same as the one i used here. (i would've put my email address, but its my full name so i figured if i just give my myspace address i should be fine haha) so if you have a myspace just send me a message with the directions and what not.

Back then that kinda woodwork wasnt looked upon as anything incredible, it was just a job well done. I wish it were like that these days. Beautiful photography as per usual.
