I've been on the ghost train at Blackpool Pleasure Beach a few times.

I used to go there every 2-3 years on a day trip with my family, & once or twice with friends in between.

I think my family stopped going because it was getting expensive because you have to pay per ride, while other places like Alton Towers you just have to pay at the gate & everything's free to go on.

I remember the Noah's Ark, it was very dark inside & at one point if you stood on the wrong bit of the floor some cow's leg's would shoot out & nearly kick you!

I was last there in 2002, I didn't go in but it seemed to be as I remember it from the outside.

i think it means people who were dead when they were found and brought in by ambulance rather than people who died in the hospital. if i'm correct, west middx was a general hospital rather than mental health. feel free to set me straight...

so sad, I loved the house of horrors, made me scared but I loved it. so sad to see how places just this melt away but the memories do not. Thanks for the pictures.

So sad this wonderful place is gone. I remember the excitement of finally getting to Rocky Point (after an hours drive) and seeing this sign. It is so sad that these places (including the Warwick Musical Theatre) no longer exist for families. Parks like Rocky Point, Whalom and Paragon were so much better then the "Six Flags" corporate parks. These parks had charm and personality, not to mention great old fashioned rides and fun.

So sad, I had so many memories of this great place, and the shore dinners!!!! We will never see a place like this again. I loved the Flume!! and your commercial brought back a flood of memories.

Perhaps its use was for patients and staff alike when the soap dispenser ran dry? Now, that really is a cause for panic!

The flats at Portsmouth's Tricorn Centre were closed years before it was pulled down, & were 3 feet deep in pigeon's doings.

Is that a weight from an adjustable dumbell at the bottom left?

Was the credit union for staff or patients?

I know Cane Hill had a patient bank so they wouldn't need to carry cash around, & to stop them hording money to help on an escape.

When lifts are abandoned the car is taken to to the bottom of the shaft, propped from underneath, then the cable is cut to engage the safety brakes & make sure it doesn't move.
I'm guessing that this is done to stop the possibility of the cable snapping years later sending the lift crashing to the bottom of the shaft, the safety system might have seized up in that time.

It looks like some took all the ceiling tiles apart from the ones with lights in.
