Not sure but the place where i used to work had panels in the walls that had been filled in but you could still make out there shape and they were there to let more light in cause the room that it would have been was the old nursery and they didn't want big glass windows cause off the kids so my guess is light panels or ob windows or both?

Looks to be a lot of piping and work for the sprinklers. Based on the pipe, it looks like ran heads into the atic space as well.
