Antique safes often are handpainted with nature scenes on the outer door or on the inside.

This was the laundry room.

Also, I am told that behind the door was actually a cell.. The metal plate with two dots at the side of the door would have had two lights attached, which indicate whether or not the door was open or shut. Also the square above the door would have had a number on e.g. '14B'.

My mother worked here for 14 years, leaving in 1989. She said the amount of suffering was unreal. Women were placed here for having a baby out of wed-lock, getting pregnant at a young age etc. and many patients were born here and died here. I live in Denbigh myself, and she's warned me never to go inside as there are stories of patients going back to the site and actually living there. It was a major source of employment for Denbigh during the time it was open, leading many people to think 'it was a wonderful place.' But some say otherwise, there have been many stories (and still are) about patients killing themselves and each other, escaping and hurting members of staff etc. and also, people escaping and commiting suicide off of the Castle walls. i used to work at this hotel like 10 years ago when it was actually open as a bell hop. i took swimming and tennis lessons here. i also worked at the Pines Golf Course for about 6 or 7 years. My family is actually good friends with the former owner of the hotel and golf course. i've also taken some scary walks through the abandoned hotel.

There was good reason for them having the place locked down. There was very sensitive information being stored inside the facility and they wanted to make sure nothing leaked out.

It is very possible that they ran a flea market in here once.

They ought to clean it up and take it out of there along with the support equipment.

That sure is an aspirator, possibly made by DeVilbiss.

I hoped they cleaned more of the place out before it was demolished...

BTW There is supposedly a house down the street from it that is haunted. I only got bits of the story but its right near or on Main Street..anyone else heard of that?

Pierre de Mondriann was actually a very good artist as was shown in many of his earlier works drawing plant life.

I once knew someone who had MS and she would stand in one of these for two hours out of a day...not sure what for, but most of the time she would use a power chair to get around.
