Paul, You got that right about telling patients from T.A.s especially when they would let the honor card people off the wards. If you saw a patient standing next to a T.A. in the lobby entrance in 22 you wound not know the difference. Good Luck

While Big Ed's diplomacy might require a little work, it is true that some of the stories appearing on this site appear to be written by folk who just crave attention. Descerning between emotive opinion and objective accuracy can be difficult, especially with the stunning images portrayed here stirring intense emotions, as they do. However, Margaret was thorough enough to provide her real name (we hope), along with a very plausible story. Activities within the confines of an institution are often difficult for the outside world to understand. Events that occur within plain sight seem appalling to those who are accustomed to basic human rights.

It is such a privilege to hear from someone who *might* have first-hand knowledge of these places, that we should encourage visitors like Margaret to contribute as much as they feel comfortable divulging. Perhaps someone might even substantiate their story with pictures or a scan of discharge papers.
