The rooms were fine, everybody was young and excited to be there for the Sumer... musicians slept better but the social scene was fantastic !! Yet,,, in those days, nobody got kidnapped, girls hitch hiked, no was "kind of " no, but still rarely heard... it was pretty clean fun with lots of hanky panky. Those days, with some measure of innocence, are sadly gone.

That room. in the late 60's - 70's was the greatest !!! Compared to smaller hotels, this was first class, air conditioning, set seating and tables, levels so all could see, soundproofing puffy walls, I worked my first "big hotel" Summer job there in the lounge. That Summer, I saw Count Basie, and many other big bands and big names perform in that Showroom.... what a sound.....

WOw what photos... I was the lounge band, "The Perell Trio", around the late 60's, the Summer Hines, Hines and Brown were there. What a Summer !!!!!!! We were all like babies..... Anyone who was there, write to me at nyrhythm@yahoo.com
