It looks like there was something in the center at one point. But it broke off. Maybe it was a vase or potted plant or marble torch.
The architecture is simply amazing, unfortunately in our age they put more emphasis on getting a building up quickly instead of beautiffuly.

they cannot renovate this place easily at all. The building closed due to asbestos. Thats a hard one to fix. More great photography.

the photography is amazing. the compostition in every shot is just incredible. Shows the eeriness of the hosipital.

Motts, you should win SOME type of award for your amazing and breathtaking pictures. You breath a new form of life into these old, abandoned places and your comments always add to the mood of the pictures. Keep up the good work, your stuff always peaks my interest and makes me want to come back and check out what new stuff you have posted.

I play the organ.....definitely sad to see a historic pipe organ abandoned like this. But if you had a couple rolls of duct tape and another person with you, you just might get some sound out!!! It looks like the center tower holding some '8 pipes collapsed and the pipes scattered themselves around the gallery

Oooo. There's something a bit unnerving and upsetting about this picture. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about how that clock was working one minute and stopped the next. Life and death? Not sure.

this place is fairly clean for being so old.

I think our toilets need a warnning on them, especially after some members of our household get finished using them. Some of that caution tape, some crime sceen tape and one or two of those bio hazard, signs. LOL
