Love that light and those bars. The late evening sun, when shadows creep slowly into darkness. Man, I can feel myself there. The quietness of the seen is actually visible. So creative, so beautiful.. Thanks Mr. Motts!
You people didn't even see the worst building of that place. It was across the street from the "Main" hospital. It was a four story "Federal" style house/building that they kept the worst mental & Aggressive "members" in.. It was burned down in a "Fire Department Training Exersize" many years ago. My thoughts about it ? The Town didn't want anyone knowing what horrors actually occured there. Burn it down, call it an "Exersixe" for the Fire Departmant........no way to find evidence of what happened there. Btw, that's the ONLY building that was burned down.
I live in Belchertown. I know the State School. You could have taken LOTS more pics than what you did. Most likely, the Police removed you from the property, and you don't want to admit that. Had you gone through the proper "Channels", you would have gotten many more pics.
oh Man!!! Love this!!! I can just picture one of my wacky friends in their crazy vintage clothes sitting on that couch smoking, OOOoo with a bee hive too!
Exactly my feelings. Zorb. One of the things I like to do (if it happens to be undamaged) is to see what it might take to get it going again and like you stated, try to figure out exactly what it did and what they used it for. Nice to see a fellow tech 'geek', so to speak.
::waves:: Hi Motts! I stumbled upon your site about a month ago, and this will be my first posted comment. I have lived in San Diego, CA my entire life and... ancient (abandoned) buildings such as these are non-existent around here. I have ALWAYS been extremely intrigued by them, but never, ever have I seen such an AWESOME collection of photographs. I couldn't decide which one I wanted to post my comment under! heh. I'm going through every single gallery you have, reading every tidbit of history you post, and all the comments... errr... all the comments that don't give me a headache. O_o
Lynne's are my favorite, she's so knowledgeable... and snarky! I love it.
And, you bet your ass I have one of your wallpapers up on my computer here at work. Dual monitors - double the pleasure! :)
I just had to finally say something about how incredible your site and all of your pictures are.
Thanks!
Dumb. This sort of hardware is one of the top three reasons I go to sites like this. I like to see what they used to do what, look at how it's set up, write down what's what, and then look up the specs on everything. It makes it more complete an experience to look at my pictures and know exactly what they did with what.
