I'm sure you are right. There would have been a rail line service here in the past to handle the grain delivery.

176 inches is over 14.5 feet so these are pretty tall. You would be able to look into the vats from the floor grate so that leaves about 10" below the floor.

This looks like such a cool place to just sit and pass the time of day!
