My great cousin was sent to paul dever after his parents died.... He was fully aware of his surroundings although He was unable to walk or talk due to cerebral palsy. However he could understand anything and still does to this day. He answers you yes by blinking and answers no by moving his eyes back and fourth. luckly he was taling out of P>D. and now lives in a group home.

The paint peels because there is no regulated temperature any longer...oil paint reacts with oxygen in the air..oil paint never stops curing & as it ages it continues to oxidize therefore becoming more brittle and typically the resins in latex paint are too big to seep into anything ... i guess in my stupid college classes jargon, no paint is permanent . OH GOD, i still remember the=formular for a redox reaction = c6h12o6 + 6o2 = 6co2 + 6h2o. Motts, im a dork.

Nah, jackieb, green mold isn't typically toxic. If the walls were covered in BLACK mold, then THAT would be cause for concern.

Oh yeah and Jason, One of the first Psychiatric hospitals in america was in the city I grew up in, and In the basement the fallout shelter signs were on every corner and in perfect condition. I actually still own one I found laying in the dirt.

judging by the hoppers it looks like they could be chain grate boilers, the coal was placed on the chain grate and the grate moved from the front to the back of the boilers. just a guess would need more pics
