I guess since they had the coal and the power plant making steam why not use it . One other thought would be cheaper to operate and may have provided more torque than a electric motor of that time period

Oh gosh I love the contrast. The blue paint and the orange paint really make an interesting combination.

This is an amazing picture. It looks almost as if there are butterflies sitting on the wall, instead of the peeling paint.

I've been to the old sanitorium in Kazoo a dozen times (not in a couple years though). Real creepy, but never seen anything to suggest its haunted. The morgue is freaky, especially if you get in the those body drawer things and close the door. Used to sit on the roof and drink beers, and came across a bum up there once. Thats about the scariest thing I've seen there.

I have one of these wonderful machines, and we actually USE it. It sounds like a Sunbeam Mixmaster and gives off an aroma of burning dust, hot film and lubricating oil, which is instantly recognizable to any boomer as "projector smell". It brings me crashing back to junior high, with its coincident odors of pencil sharpener shavings and chalk dust. Simply wonderful.
