I can just imagine someone sitting in the doorway in that wheelchair, waiting for someone to come and visit them perhaps. Very sad and lonely. Beautiful shot, though, Motts.
I used to go there 30 years ago and get high, drink a few beers and just be stupid with my friends, but back then there was no graffiti on the walls, but it still looked just as creepy. There also used to be a place near by where they used to have missile silos Yes NUKES. There was a big water tower there and huge slabs of cement where they covered the silos up. They moved them to an area not too far away up there where there is some secret military complex.
Funny thing is I can't seem to find any of it on Google Earth Hmmmmmm
Anyway it was really kewl to come across this after so many years and to see it is still a popular out of the way place.
I have a current update about the hospital property for those that are not from the area. The most recent development agreement has fallen through. It was going to be luxury shopping, condos and a golf course. If there is not something in process by the end of the year, the property is going to have to be turned back over to the state.
Molly - I used to live about 1/2 mile down Kill Road from Sunny Croft, from 1968 til 1970, I was 6 to 8 years old then. My brother worked for Sunny Croft during that time frame . I remember the ranch, skeet shooting and the pool. I was at the Bruswick Inn once for lunch. My memories of that building are from before it was an Inn - when it was Esther's Store. Used to love going in there for candy, ice cream, or soda when I was little.
We use those abbreviations all the time. It is not nearly a full list, but it knocks out quite a bit with the exceptions at the top. I know that in the last year, SSE went out due to non use, QD went out due to med errors, and most of these got new ICD-9 codes. I almost never use letter abbreviations for conditions anymore.
I love being a medical student and data entry worker. Did you know we re-enter old stuff for companies, and if you had something go wrong in treatment, it gets labeled a "Medical Misadventure". This is seen mostly in surgical procedures and psych patients. The one we use the most off of that above list is ADL, though. Because you need your butt wiped more often than you need that enema =P
Reminds me of my old daycare center, except we didn't even have the dividers! You just had to try to pull your shirt over your knees. Yes, this is one of the memories that led me to be a SAHM!
